A Queen Anne Walnut Veneered Bachelor's Chest.

Height: 30 ⅛" 76.25cm
Width: 28" 71cm
Depth: 13 ¼" 34cm

The cross-banded hinged top opening to reveal a cross-banded and baize lined top which opens to reveal a well with divides for paper, pens and inkwells.

Below the top is one long drawer above two banks of short drawers flanking a kneehole cupboard. The cupboard may be set back to form the kneehole or may be drawn forward till flush with the drawers. The kneehole is a feature we have not seen on a bachelor's chest before.

This exceptional bachelor's chest is a very good colour walnut, retains its original handles, carrying handles and locks, has herringbone inlay around each drawer and crossbanding to each side. Furthermore, the chest is also veneered on the back, which is almost unheard of.
