A Regency Period Circular Centre Table Attributed to George Bullock

SOLD - A Regency Period Circular Centre Table Attributed to George Bullock

Height: 28" 71cm
Diameter: 54" 137cm

This superb table, having a pollard oak top with a floral motif inlaid in ebony above a tapering column with ebony tiered plinth. In turn the plinth is supported on a concave sided base with four splayed legs which are similarly decorated with ebony inlay and terminate in original gilt metal castors.

The table has been constructed using the most highly figured veneers which create a most striking effect. This effect is further enhanced by the golden colour that the top has developed over the years.

English, Circa 1825

ATTRIBUTION
There are a number of distinguishing features that are characteristic of George Bullock's work. The use of oak as the primary wood, the decorated ebony border and the ebony roundels on the legs are all features seen on other documented pieces.
