SOLD - A Pair of Queen Anne Carved Gesso Side Tables
Height: 30" 76cm
Width: 36 " 92.5cm
Depth: 22 " 57cm
The tables have a 'breccia' marble top supported on a concave shaped frieze carved with raised panels of 'cross-hatch' decoration flanking a central stylised flowerhead with foliage to each corner. Below, the table is supported on four square cut cabriole legs carved with foliage to the knees and feet with punched ground decoration between.
These superbly drawn tables have great presence. With their crisply carved decoration and extremely well shaped cabriole legs to the front and back, they exemplify the best of Queen Anne furniture. The simplicity of their design is so clearly turned to their advantage and with the similarly dated pair of mirrors positioned above, this most elegant look is complete. (Further information on the mirrors may be found in the mirror section under George I gesso mirrors)
