A Pair of Georgian Carved Mahogany Card Tables

A Fine and Rare Pair of George III Chippendale Period Carved Mahogany Card Tables
The serpentine tops veneered in highly figured mahogany and sitting upon similarly serpentined friezes carved with blind fret decoration. Each table standing on four cabriole legs with carved acanthus leaf decoration to the knees, scrolling foliage to the ears and terminating in claw and ball feet.

Pairs of Chippendale period carved mahogany card tables are extremely difficult to find. This pair benefit from being very good quality, with well chosen veneers, deep crisp carving and excellent proportions. There is also a certain attention to detail that raises the standard of these tables, for example; the chamfered corners to the tops and the fact that the back legs are also carved.
