A George III Satinwood and Rosewood Cabinet
This most unusual cabinet has a marble top above two drawers which retain their original turned ebony handles and are inlaid with a satinwood panel. Between the drawers is a raised panel with diamond pattern parquetry of satinwood and rosewood. Below the drawers are two mirrored doors which open to reveal shelves with inlaid lines to the leading edge of each shelf and a smaller repeat of the central panel. Flanking the doors are inlaid panels of satinwood below a carved roundel. The sides of the cabinet are similarly decorated the diamond shaped panels of satinwood and rosewood within a satinwood frame.
The cabinet is extremely decorative and is of very good quality. The attention to detail, both on the outside of the cabinet but also and slightly more surprisingly, the inside, is most certainly significant. This quality combined with the choice of woods and the colour they have become marks this cabinet out.
