A Fine Pair of Regency Period Glass & Ormolu Wall Lights
A Fine Pair of Regency Period Glass & Ormolu Wall Lights.
Having an urn shaped finial supported on a diamond and flat cut spire above four arms. The two rear arms resembling serpents with acorn finials. The front S-shaped arms supporting drip pans and nozzles with double cut round icicles. The arms all with 'nitch' cutting and the ormolu back plate with a stylised Tudor Rose.

There can be no doubt that candlelight and cut glass are an exceptional combination and illuminate a room with atmosphere that an electric light can never hope to achieve. This pair combines a most elegant design and finely cut glass with a high lead content giving a depth of colour that is no longer possible with modern glass.

English, Circa 1810.
