SOLD - A Superb George III Satinwood Writing Box

The box is veneered in the most exceptional satinwood and banded with tulipwood. In the top is an inlaid oval patarae to the centre and inlaid oak leaves and acorns to each corner. As might be expected of a piece of this quality, the handles to each side are silver plated.

The box opening to reveal a baize lined writing slide, which may be opened and used for the storage of paper and envelopes, and compartments for ink bottle and sander, and a pen tray. One side of the pen tray inscribed "a present to my mother on marriage 1794 CP."
