Detail of the Verre Eglomise
An Unusual Regency Verre Eglomise Mirror
Having an inverted breakfront pediment above a verre eglomise panel with blue surround, gold floral border and classical trophy to the centre. Below is a Queen Anne bevelled mirror plate flanked by half columns with composite (Ionic and Corinthian) capitals.

The mirror provides a wonderful example of the value placed on glass at this time. Presumably, during an episode of updating the decoration of a house, a Queen Anne mirror plate was removed from its original frame and placed in this especially designed Regency frame.
Particularly noteworthy is the carving which is both crisp and very refined.
