An Exceptionally Rare George III Chippendale Period Sidetable.

A George III Chippendale Period Sidetable

Height: 35" 89cm
Length: 60" 152.5cm
Depth: 30" 76cm

The brecchia marble top supported on a carved frieze and standing on four cabriole legs with carved knulling and floral C scrolls to the knees and the most unusual pad feet with carved foliage.

The decoration of the frieze on this table is of the finest quality and highly unusual. Below the marble is a leaf carved motif above blind fret work interspersed with rosettes. To the lower edge is the most superbly carved 'rope' motif.

English, Circa 1765

REFERENCE
Comparisons may be made with a side table illustrated in 'English Furniture of the Eighteenth Century' by Herbert Cescinsky, Vol 2, fig 108, which has similar rosettes in the frieze.
