A Giltwood Mirror with Wedgwood Plaque
A Magnificent George III oval giltwood mirror, crisply carved and with the Rare feature of a Wedgwood plaque. The oval mirror plate framed by an inner ring of 'rope' motif carving and an outer ring of carved lappets. Below, the mirror has a carved apron of scrolling foliage and rosettes. Above, the scrolling foliage is repeated and upon which is resting the Wedgwood plaque depicting a 'Herculaneum Dancer'. Surmounting the plaque is a superbly carved anthemion from which a chain of bell flowers hangs down on either side of the frame. These flowers are held away from the frame by carved rosettes.
