A George III Carved Mahogany 'Chinese' Chippendale Silver Table
Height: 30 ¼" 77cm This exceptional table is a testament to the expertise and skill of the Eighteenth century cabinet makers but also to the extraordinary strength of mahogany. Until the introduction of mahogany pierced fretwork was not possible. The strength of the mahogany allowed for a great range of new designs to be possible. The table also benefits enormously from the wonderful colour and patination of the top. English, Circa 1765 |
