A Rare George II Figured Walnut Card Table
The card table has a hinged top with a moulded edge which opens to reveal a baize lined playing surface. There is a small drawer at each end and five cabriole legs each with moulded lappet to the top and a pad foot below.
The simple lines and lack of ornamentation are typical of the George II period and accentuate the elegance of the table which is all the more remarkable for the untouched condition of the surface. The walnut, which is very well figured, has developed a warm colour and a tremendous depth of patination.
