WILLIAM GATES

William Gates succeeded John Bradburn as tradesman to the Great Wardrobe in 1777. His name is frequently recorded in the Royal Accounts and a pair of commodes in the Royal Collection were made for the apartments of the Prince of Wales, later George IV, in Buckingham House, London. He specialised in marquetry furniture in the neo-classical style.
