A George I Burr Walnut Tallboy
The tallboy or chest-on-chest has a moulded cornice above three short drawers and three long drawers all flanked by canted corners with fluted decoration. The lower section has a secretaire drawer with pigeon holes, drawers and doors above three further drawers supported on original bracket feet.
The quality of the tallboy is illustrated by the herring-bone inlay and cross-banding on each drawer and the carefully selected burr walnut veneers which have been employed to such striking effect. In addition, the handles and escutcheons are also original.
