A Set of George III Mahogany Dining Chairs
The set comprises of ten original chairs and an additional two chairs of a later date. Each chair has a shaped top rail carved with a central acanthus flanked by scrolls, with shells at the corners. The shaped uprights carved in the centre with small double scrolls and the pierced, vase shaped splat carved at the sides with double scrolls and on the lower section with a cartouche. The cabriole legs carved at the front with scrolls and acanthus at the knee and terminating in scroll feet. The back legs more simply carved.
