An Important George II Period Carved Gilt Mirror

Having a swan neck pediment terminating in pierced foliage and flanking an elaborate crest with central cabochon and carved birds perched on opposing 'C' scrolls.

Below, the original beveled plate is framed by successive borders of strapwork on a punched ground, sand and a pinched edge. The lower edge interrupted by a carved scallop shell flanked by further strapwork decoration.

The mirror extremely well proportioned and displaying the finest quality carving.
